Tasty Tomato Salad

Tomatoes are used in so many  dishes, it’s hard to decide on one to make. Their range of flavours, from tart to very sweet, and their satisfying texture make them the ideal ingredient for sauces, salads, soups and grilling.

An old favourite,  as well as the perfect summer dish, is tomato salad with bocconcini.The key for this simple and healthy dish is to choose perfectly ripened tomatoes with flavour. And with all the  tasty varieties to choose from nowadays and Ontario-grown tomato season in full swing, this salad is a sure winner. Mix tomatoes with different flavour profiles for an interesting and fun food expereince!

Tasty Tomato Salad



2 tablespoons of olive oil

1 1/2 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

1 garlic clove, crushed

Salt & pepper to taste

Ripe tomatoes (we used a variety of our beautiful Market tomatoes: green, heirloom, strawberry cherry)

1/2 container baby bocconcini, cut in half

1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped

parsley to taste


  1. Place olive oil, vinegar, garlic, salt and pepper in small jar and stir vigorously until combined.
  2. Arrange tomatoes, bocconcini and basil on serving dish and drizzle with dressing.
  3. Serve and enjoy!
